November 1st 2008 No More Stickers on your windshield! The North Carolina Auto Emission/Safety Inspection Program transitioned from paper stickers to electronic authorizations (e-stickers). Find out more at the Department of Air Quality. (go to links main page) If Your State Inspection expires before your plate renews in 2009, you need to have your vehicle inspected. Check with your DMV Enforcement Dept for the correct information on this. Don't call tag office. All Automobiles 35 years and older do not require a NC Inspection. 1995 and older autos require a safety and emission tampering inspection only.
